3 Key Differences You Should Know

Brand vs. Logo

  • There is much confusion between the difference of brand and logo. The short answer is that your brand or brand identity is the larger picture of what your company is, and the logo is one piece of your brand identity that helps consumers recognize your business’ brand.

What is brand identification?

  • A company’s brand identification is extremely important to identify early on especially for small business owners. This consists of; the mission and vision statements, the target audience, the experience your customers will have with your company, marketing and digital marketing strategies and campaigns, the logo and color selection etc., everything that would influence the opinion of your customers and potential customers. A business’ brand identity is how you want your business seen by the public, the type of business that you want to portray as a business owner, and how the public actually sees your business. However, these things may not be the same and a new approach is necessary to align the views.

What is a logo?

  • A logo is a graphic and/or typographic that helps every business individualize their brand identification. A graphic as a logo is an image that a graphic designer has developed and customized for your business like the Nike Swoosh. A typographic as a logo would usually be the name of the company in a specialized font like Coca Cola. This customized image would have been formatted by the graphics designer so that businesses can use it on multiple mediums like a website or business cards.
